Bio

A love of colour, art and design has been integral to my life since my earliest years,
yet it was only in 2010 that I took steps to focus my direction in the area of textile arts, a combination of things I loved, and commenced studying for a Diploma in Textile Arts.

It was only in mid-2011 that I uncovered my passion for weaving. With one small piece of handwoven leno weave, I realised that the ultimate for me is to make my own cloth - to weave my own artistic visions as an art weaver.  Without hesitation,  I located a wonderful weaving mentor, devoured every book and website I could about weaving, bought two wonderful old looms and began to weave.

Every time I look at yarn and fibres, every time I plan and select the materials and structure for a weaving, spend the hours needed to wind the warp and painstakingly dress the loom then begin to weave, I am fully engaged.

As a painter mixes the pigment, I mix the yarns. The unexpected intersection between yarns and colours often surprises and delights. The variations in warp and weft take me on a journey with each piece I weave as it builds before my eyes.
